7 Steps On How To Love Yourself

Loving yourself is a life journey and at times it can be difficult. We all learn to love ourselves at different points in life. Seeing yourself in a loving way is not something we are born with and it can be difficult at times, especially if you’re going through a hard time in life. Self Love takes a lot of practice, patience and work. I have some great news for you though… you’re capable of being a loving person!
Below are a few steps I have taken to love myself more and I am so happy to share them
Stop the comparison game
I get it, it is hard to stop comparing yourself to others around you. Everyone has different things happening in life and we can get consumed in jealousy. It is VERY important to stop comparing and to just be happy. Look at how far along you have come and to see where life is taking you! Start putting all of the energy from comparing yourself to others into the things that make you happy and where you want to go.
Make a list of where you want to be in life in the next year or five years. Now that you have a list, you’re able to put your energy into those.
Make a list
Sit down and make a list of all of the things you love about yourself. You will be surprised at how much you already love yourself! Once you start to grow and love yourself more, you can add to this list. When you are feeling off come back to this list and remember all of the things you love about yourself.
find validation within yourself
Oftentimes we search for validation and support from others, especially when we aren’t feeling our best. It is okay to receive validation and support from others but we need to find the validation and support within ourselves as well.
Don’t judge
Stop judging your feelings, it is okay to feel a certain way. You have every right to feel however you do. It is important to recognize that and to feel it.
Value yourself
In a world where others may not value you, you have to value yourself. You are worthy of love and to love yourself fully.
Perfection
Don’t expect to be perfect because no one is. Trying to be a perfect person will just set you up for unrealistic standards. Instead, try to be the best version of yourself possible. That will most likely include days where it is hard to love yourself (it’s normal). Go back to the list of things you love about yourself when you feel like you need to be “perfect”.
Treat yo’self
This is a personal favourite of mine! Treat yourself to the things that make you happy. Is it getting your nails done? Getting your hair done? Having a bath with a glass of wine? No matter what you like to do, take the time to do that for yourself!
